Hai Phong, VN and FIATA promote the city’s logistics development

On July 12th, FIATA discussed with Haiphong authorities about promoting the development of logistics services in Hai Phong, leading by Mr.Ivan Petrov – FIATA chairman and Mr.Stéphen Graber – CEO of FIATA.

During the meeting, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City said that Hai Phong is the only city in the North that has all 5 modes of transport (road, rail, air, sea and inland waterways), natural conditions and favorable seaport system to become the logistics center of the North.

FIATA president, Mr. Ivan Petrov said he was impressed with Hai Phong's multimodal transport advantages and wished the city would create conditions for the development of railway infrastructure and the master plan to connect the seaport system with waterways between localities.

In addition, FIATA also said the cooperation between VLA (Vietnam Logistics Business Association) and FIATA is very important to solve problems of multimodal transport, building a digital center for Hai Phong port, supporting the city to become the logistics center of the region.

Currently, Hai Phong has 4 logistics centers including:

  • 2 logistics centers have been put into operation in Dinh Vu industrial park
    • Green logistics center
    • Yusen Logistics Center
  • 2 under construction logistics centers
    • CDC logistics center (Dinh Vu Industrial Park 2)
    • Logistics center in Hai Phong International Gateway Port Industrial Park (Deep C III)

Sharing about the city's development goals to 2025, the vice chairman of Hai Phong city said that the growth rate will reach 30-35% per year, the proportion of Hai Phong's GRDP contribution from 20-25%, the rate of outsourced logistics services will reach about 60% and increase to 65% by 2030. Hai Phong will plan 9 logistics centers for the period 2025 - 2030.
