The Outbox Company has just released a report on the tourism situation in Southeast Asia. In May, Vietnam ranked second in terms of capacity with 6,2 million seats, an average increase of 4% per day.

Meanwhile, Indonesia still has the largest total seating capacity, accounting for 30% of the entire region (10,8 million seats). Vietnam represents 17% of regional capacity, Thailand in the third place with 5,9 million seats. Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore are respectively behind in terms of total aircraft seating capacity.

The busiest domestic flight route in Southeast Asia in May is again Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City with a total capacity of 908 298 seats. The remaining two domestic routes in the top 3 are from Indonesia, respectively Jakarta - Bali (722 924 seats) and Jakarta - Sumatera Utara (541 580 seats). Owning a total seat capacity of more than 10,8 million Indonesia owns 5/10 of the busiest domestic flight routes in Southeast Asia.

Regarding international routes, Singapore is still the main international air transport bridge in the region. The top 3 international routes in May belong to Kuala Lumpur - Singapore (427 124 seats), Jakarta - Singapore (346 792 seats) and Bangkok - Singapore (275 748 seats). In addition, 7/10 of the largest international routes in the region are from Singapore.

Also according to this report, Vietnam is in the top 3 Southeast Asian destinations with the highest number of international arrivals in April. In which, Thailand attracts 2,1 million visitors. Although this number has decreased by 1,66% compared to the previous month, Thailand is still leading as the most attractive destination in Southeast Asia.

The second place is Singapore with 1,1 million visitors. Of the five destinations in Southeast Asia, Singapore is the only country that has continuously recorded an increase in the number of international arrivals during the first four months of 2023. However, this is still not enough for Singapore to reach a third of the target set for this year.

Vietnam attracts nearly 1 million visitors. This is the month that Vietnam welcomes the most international tourists since the beginning of the year. Regarding the target of 2023, Vietnam still maintains its performance with the highest goal completion rate as of April (46,05%), Thailand or Singapore are over 28%.

In April, Singapore excelled at the top of the recovery index, the first time in four months (70,54%). The runner-up is the Philippines with 69,09%. The other three destinations currently have similar recovery indicators.
