News #56 - Turkey's Leading Logistics Company Is Sold to the Danes

12.04.2024

According to the development awaiting the approval of the EU, Turkey's leading logistics company Ekol Logistics is being transferred to Denmark-based DFDS.

While it is stated that the agreement between the two companies is worth 277 million dollars, the approval of the European Union must be obtained for the sale to take place.

Recently, global companies, which think that the Turkish market is attractive, are taking rapid steps to incorporate companies in Turkey. In this context, it was announced that Denmark's leading transportation giant DFDS decided to acquire Turkey's important logistics company Ekol Logistics.

It was stated that a preliminary protocol was signed between the two companies regarding the acquisition of Ekol Logistics to add it to DFDS's international transportation network. However, in order to complete the sale, the necessary approvals must be obtained from the official institutions of the two countries. DFDS CEO Torben Carlsen stated that Turkey's role as a production center for Europe will become even stronger in the future.

With the combination of DFDS's extensive ferry network and Ekol Logistics' road transportation experience, the logistics flow between Turkey and Europe is expected to become even easier. With this acquisition, DFDS will expand its strategy of transporting products in trailers by ferry, road and rail and provide road connection to the Mediterranean.

It is expected that the European Union will be authorized to complete the agreement, whose sales negotiations started in 2022 and was approved by the Competition Authority.
