Taking place from October 21–23, 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany, Routes World 2026 is the world's leading forum on route network development, expected to bring together more than 230 airlines and representatives from over 110 countries.
This is an opportunity for Gia Binh International Airport to gradually access the global aviation market, expand opportunities for cooperation in developing its flight network, and lay the foundation for a future international connectivity strategy, in parallel with the roadmap to prepare for APEC 2027.
Routes World: Expanding direct dialogue with global airlines
Within the framework of Routes World 2026, Gia Binh International Airport plans to hold more than 30 meetings with airlines from Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Simultaneously, it will promote exchanges with airports and partners to develop destination tourism .
The meetings focused on introducing the project's development direction, understanding the priorities of each airline group, and identifying opportunities for cooperation in flight networks, passenger connectivity, and cargo transportation.
Participating in industry dialogues at Routes World is a step towards helping Gia Binh Airport access the international aviation market from its development stage, gradually building relationships with airlines and strategic partners, and seeking opportunities to participate in the formation of a future aviation connectivity network.
Representatives from Gia Binh Airport are expected to participate in the discussion session "Securing Routes: How to Build Strong Partnerships Between Airlines, Airports, and Destinations," focusing on how to build effective partnerships between airlines, airports, and destinations.
Gia Binh Airport aims to work with airlines early on through the exchange of market data, flight network planning, and operational plans. For long-haul and full-service airlines, the project is exploring cooperation programs for pioneering carriers, including superior support mechanisms. For low-cost airlines, the focus is on aircraft turnaround efficiency and competitive operating costs; for cargo and logistics companies, the advantage comes from specialized cargo infrastructure and connectivity with high-tech production and export clusters in the North.
Market potential, strategic location, and exploitation efficiency
The opportunities for Gia Binh International Airport lie not only in the addition of infrastructure, but also in the potential to open up more space for international routes and transit connections.
According to the project's analysis, more than 30% of the potential international demand in the North – equivalent to approximately 4-5 million visitors per year – is currently not served by direct flights.
The airport is located in the center of the Hanoi - Bac Ninh - Hai Phong growth triangle, connected to high-tech manufacturing clusters and international investment flows.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors to Hanoi is projected to increase from 47 million to 60 million by 2030, including 35 million domestic visitors and 25 million international visitors.
In 2025 alone, approximately 892,000 passengers from Hanoi will have to make connecting flights through air hubs such as Doha, Istanbul, Guangzhou, and Dubai. This indicates significant potential for developing more direct flights. Within a three-hour flight radius, Gia Binh Airport can access 297 airports with a market of approximately 1.3 billion people.
Regarding its flight network, Gia Binh International Airport aims for a model where domestic routes generate incoming passengers, regional routes supplement connecting passenger flows, and long-haul routes gradually develop international transit capacity.
The airport aims for a minimum layover time of no more than 60 minutes, compared to approximately 90 minutes at Noi Bai, with a travel time from the car door to the airplane door under 15 minutes and no queuing required.
Gia Binh International Airport: Vietnam's new aviation gateway
Gia Binh International Airport possesses a market foundation advantage stemming from three complementary demand sources within a high economic growth base.
Firstly, macroeconomic conditions and government policies contribute to a robust demand for travel and trade. In 2025, Vietnam is projected to achieve GDP growth of 8.02% and CPI increase of 3.31%, while the GDP growth target for 2026 is set at 10% or higher, linked to macroeconomic stability and prioritizing strategic infrastructure, science and technology, and high-value industries.
Secondly, industry and FDI create a base of business travelers, experts, and high-value goods. Bac Ninh alone is expected to attract approximately $5.73 billion in FDI in 2025, contributing to the formation of a high-value customer base and demand for goods transportation from production clusters in Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, and Hai Phong.
In addition, the Hanoi - Ha Long - Ninh Binh destination chain is oriented towards developing diverse experiences ranging from cuisine and shopping to culture, which is a reason to encourage international tourists to stay longer.
Gia Binh International Airport is envisioned to become the international aviation gateway of Northern Vietnam, playing a role in the transit of passengers and cargo, and developing aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services to serve the Asia-Pacific region.
With this orientation, Gia Binh Airport aims to expand its international air connectivity capacity, creating more opportunities for cooperation among airlines, logistics businesses, and trade partners, thereby contributing to promoting trade and economic growth in the region.
From the impetus of special economic zones and free trade zones (FTZs), to high-quality jobs, expertise, tourism, and experiences for tourists, Gia Binh International Airport is expected to create an economic boost for Vietnam in the future.
“Elevating every journey” is not just a commitment to the passenger experience, but also how Gia Binh Airport recognizes the value of every connection: expanding opportunities for passengers, businesses, logistics and trade, while contributing to national growth and elevating Vietnam's position on the global aviation map.
Gia Binh International Airport is being developed by Masterise Aviation Infrastructure Joint Stock Company (MAI), a member of Masterise Group. With a focus on combining aviation infrastructure development capabilities, technology, and a service ecosystem, MAI and its partners aim to create Gia Binh airport to international standards, while also contributing to the formation of new growth drivers for Northern Vietnam.
